With Vaccine Supply Continuing to Increase, Seattle Could Reach Community Immunity By End of May
Mayor Jenny A. Durkan announced that the City of Seattle and its partners will administer more than 52,000 COVID-19 vaccinations this week. This is the largest single-week vaccine allocation the City of Seattle and its partners have received to-date, and the City expects this level of supply to either continue or increase in the coming weeks. With vaccine supply continuing to increase, and if public demand for vaccine continues, Seattle could vaccinate 70 percent of its residents and workers by the end of May.
All people 16 years-old or older who live or work in King County and have not yet received a COVID-19 vaccination should schedule an appointment online at a City of Seattle government-affiliated site.
The Seattle city government operates four vaccination sites:

This week, the City of Seattle and its partners will administer 52,000 COVID-19 vaccinations, which includes 38,600 first doses, and 13,700 second doses. As a point of comparison, last week, the City and its partners received 14,500 first doses of the vaccine, and received 18,600 first doses the week before that. The increase in doses is largely attributable to an increased allocation from the federal government to King County while still receiving the appropriate share through the state allocation. Mayor Durkan has been advocating the federal government for an increased allocation for weeks.
“With the recent transition of our West Seattle and Rainier Beach community hubs to focus 100 percent on vaccines, we stand ready to vaccinate even more of our community members,” said Seattle Fire Chief Harold D. Scoggins. “This influx of vaccine to Seattle is much needed and appreciated. Now I want to urge Seattle residents and workers to sign up to be notified when appointments are available so we can ensure every dose finds an arm.”
This week, the Lumen Field Event Center administered its 50,000th vaccination after 15 individual clinics. At peak capacity, the Lumen Field Event Center can administer 22,000 vaccinations per clinic. As supply increases, the Community Vaccination Site at the Lumen Field Event Center will steadily increase its daily operation until it reaches peak capacity.
Earlier last week, the Seattle Fire Department launched two new efforts to increase vaccinations among older adults in King County. Effective immediately, all people 60 years-old and older are able to walk-in to the Community Vaccination Hubs in Rainier Beach and West Seattle and get vaccinated without an appointment. SFD also launched “Good Neighbor” which is an innovative walk-in vaccination program that allows older adults and the person accompanying them to get a vaccination at the Rainier Beach (Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Atlantic City Boat Ramp at 8702 Seward Park Ave S, 98118) or West Seattle (Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at 2801 SW Thistle St, 98126) vaccination sites without an appointment. Thành Phố khuyến khích tất cả cư dân hãy là người hàng xóm tốt bụng và giúp đỡ người khác trong cộng đồng của mình đăng ký để được đưa vào danh sách người nhận thông báo.
“Trong nhiều tuần qua, tôi đã yêu cầu Nhà Trắng và chính phủ liên bang cung cấp vắc-xin để phù hợp với nhu cầu và yêu cầu rất lớn trong các cộng đồng của chúng ta. Tuần tới, Thành Phố Seattle và các đối tác sẽ tiêm 52.000 liều vắc-xin COVID-19, trong đó bao gồm 38.600 liều thứ nhất và 13.700 liều thứ hai. Để so sánh, Thành Phố và các đối tác đã nhận được 14.500 liều vắc-xin thứ nhất trong tuần này và 18.600 liều vắc-xin thứ nhất trong tuần trước. Số liều vắc-xin tăng lên chủ yếu là do chính phủ liên bang phân bổ nhiều hơn cho Quận King, trong khi Quận vẫn nhận được phần chia tương xứng thông qua lượng phân bổ từ tiểu bang. Trong những tuần qua, Thị Trưởng Durkan vẫn luôn yêu cầu chính phủ liên bang phân bổ nhiều hơn.
Cảnh Sát Trưởng Sở Cứu Hỏa Harold Scoggins chia sẻ: “Với sự chuyển đổi gần đây của các trung tâm cộng đồng West Seattle và Rainier Beach để tập trung 100% vào việc tiêm vắc-xin, chúng ta luôn sẵn sàng tiêm vắc-xin cho toàn thể các thành viên trong cộng đồng, thậm chí còn nhiều hơn thế. Chúng ta thật sự rất cần và cảm kích với nguồn cấp vắc-xin này cho Seattle. Giờ thì tôi muốn thúc giục các cư dân và người lao động ở Seattle đăng ký để được thông báo khi có thể đặt lịch hẹn tiêm để chúng ta có thể đảm bảo tiêm được hết số vắc-xin này”.
Trong tuần này, Lumen Field Event Center đã tiêm liều thứ 50.000 sau 15 phòng khám riêng lẻ. Ở công suất cao nhất, Lumen Field Event Center có thể tiêm 22.000 liều vắc-xin ở mỗi phòng khám. Khi nguồn cung tăng lên, Cơ Sở Chủng Ngừa Cộng Đồng tại Lumen Field Event Center sẽ gia tăng hoạt động đều đặn hàng ngày cho đến khi đạt mức công suất cao nhất.
Đầu tuần này, Seattle Fire Department (SFD, Sở Cứu Hỏa Seattle) đã công bố hai chương trình mới để gia tăng số liều chủng ngừa cho người cao tuổi tại Quận King. Có hiệu lực tức thì, tất cả những người từ 60 tuổi trở lên có thể đến thẳng các Trung Tâm Chủng Ngừa Cộng Đồng tại Rainier Beach và West Seattle và được tiêm vắc-xin mà không cần lịch hẹn. SFD cũng công bố chương trình “Good Neighbor” (Người Hàng Xóm Tốt Bụng), đây là chương trình chủng ngừa đổi mới không cần hẹn trước, cho phép người cao tuổi và người đi cùng họ được chủng ngừa tại các cơ sở chủng ngừa của Rainier Beach (Thứ Hai – Thứ Bảy, 9 giờ sáng – 4 giờ chiều tại Atlantic City Boat Ramp at 8702 Seward Park Ave S, 98118) hoặc West Seattle (Thứ Hai – Thứ Bảy, 9 giờ sáng – 4 giờ chiều tại 2801 SW Thistle St, 98126) mà không cần lịch hẹn.
